Little Carmine wanted his 4th birthday party to be a construction theme. It’s a good thing his daddy is a developer. Daddy and his crew transformed the home into an amazing construction zone complete with tons of machines, activities and fu
n!CarElla Photo did, that’s who! Below are some beautifully written words from famed NYC photographer Evan Joseph (www.evanjoseph.com) on this photo, which was submitted (by my mom!) in a photography contest over the holidays.
“There is a sense of holiday magic that shines through beautifully in this sweet moment. The brilliance of the tree’s lights, enhanced by the contract of the shadows throughout the rest of the composition evokes a sense of enchantment and ethereality. The tree’s seemingly contagious glow, as it touches Ella and highlights her shadowed figure almost becomes representative of the infectious spirit of the season. As she stands on the ladder’s highest step to reach even just the middle of the tree, Ella lends a great sense of scale to the image and invites the audience to imagine this larger-than-life holiday thought he eyes of a child. The fact that you can’t see her face makes the image that much more iconic – she could be any girl, at any time, in front of any tree. Through the photograph, we are transported directly there with Ella and share in her wonder and awe.”
What a nice surprise it was for me to receive a beautiful letter with these touching words. Thank you Evan – I will cherish this!

I’m a pretty tough chickie… but I was tearing up behind the camera at this event. Congratulations to Dino and Ilyssa & thank you for inviting me to share in such a special moment.
